Thanks for reading! Yes, I think "The Fabulous Baker Boys" is a very underrated movie. Both Jeff and his older brother Beau (and Michelle Pfeiffer) are great in it. Since I was focusing my article on Bridges' more offbeat movies, I couldn't include it, but It's a film I like quite a bit.
Thanks for reading! I saw "Hearts of the West" in the theater too. I remember telling all of my friends at high school about it but none of them were very interested. It's a shame more people haven't seen the film. I hope it gets a blu-ray release sometime soon.
Thanks for reading! Yes, Bridges is great in "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot," which I think is an excellent film too. I agree that more people should see it.
I’ve seen the other 4 films but I have zero memory of Hearts of the West’s existence. The plot sounds ridiculously amazing. I’m always in for revisionist westerns. Gonna watch it.
Thanks for reading! I hope you'll enjoy "Hearts of the West." I think it's a forgotten movie now, but I've always liked it a lot. Please let me know what you think of it after you've seen the film.
Thanks for reading! For sure! Jimmy Buffett’s music adds a lot to the film. From what I understand, Buffett was vacationing in the town where they filmed the movie, so the filmmakers talked him into appearing in the movie and doing the score.
Thanks for reading! Yes, Bridges is great in “Crazy Heart” too. Isn’t amazing how many fine movies Bridges has starred in through the years? I’m not sure any other actor can match that - maybe DeNiro - but I think his record is more hit and miss than Bridges.
Fabulous Baker Boys. Not sure if you consider this underrated. But great performance by Jeff

Hearts of the West is one of my all-time faves. I saw it three times in the theater when it came out.
Hi Christopher,
Thanks for reading! I saw "Hearts of the West" in the theater too. I remember telling all of my friends at high school about it but none of them were very interested. It's a shame more people haven't seen the film. I hope it gets a blu-ray release sometime soon.
De nada. Good article. I also confess to having a thing for Blythe Danner back in the day.
I prefer his True Grit to John Wayne's version
Hi Steven,
Thanks for reading! Yes, I agree! Bridges is great in that movie.
Great post, Jim. I enjoyed his performance in Hell or High Water. I have the dude on 4K, your post has promoted it in my viewing list.
Hi Lloyd,
Thanks for reading! Bridges is really great in "Hell Or High Water." It's an Oscar caliber performance, for sure.
The Fisher King
Great list. "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" is another one I think of that more people should see.

I’ve never seen “Hearts of the West,” thanks for bringing it to our attention. Really enjoyed this piece. I’m a big Bridges fan, too.

Glad to see Winter Kills. Terrific political thriller.
Hi Cedric,
Thanks for reading! Yes! I agree with you that "Winter Kills" is terrific; it's a shame more people haven't seen the movie.
I haven’t read the book, but I really want to
We always knew Jeff was more than the Dude! Tron, Fischer King, True Grit - or read his books.
Hi Splitting PrejudicesNotAtoms,
Yes! Bridges has had an amazing career. Thanks for reading!
Nice list. Gonna have to check out Hearts of the West and follow along with the adventures of Tater and Andy Griffith. Hehe. Cool post, Jim.
starman?
Hi Ahmed,
Thanks for reading! "Starman" is definitely another film with a great Jeff Bridges performance.
Rancho Deluxe- great soundtrack by the late great Jimmy Buffett.
Hi PSW,
Thanks for reading! For sure! Jimmy Buffett’s music adds a lot to the film. From what I understand, Buffett was vacationing in the town where they filmed the movie, so the filmmakers talked him into appearing in the movie and doing the score.
Thomas Mcguane the screenwriter was also Jimmys brother in law.
Hi PSW,
I didn't know that - wow, that's interesting! Thanks!
Crazy Heart is my favorite
Hi Bendguy,
Thanks for reading! Yes, Bridges is great in “Crazy Heart” too. Isn’t amazing how many fine movies Bridges has starred in through the years? I’m not sure any other actor can match that - maybe DeNiro - but I think his record is more hit and miss than Bridges.
Stargate
Hi Terry,
Thanks for reading! But Jeff Bridges wasn’t in “Stargate.” His older brother Beau was in the direct to dvd sequels and the t.v. series, however.
Maybe you’re thinking of “Starman” instead? Bridges is great in that John Carpenter film.
You are correct. I apologize.
I enjoyed ‘Starman’. I should have checked before I posted.
Hi Terry,
No, that's fine - I get titles mixed up all the time. I just appreciate you taking the time to read my article - thanks again!
I wanna rewatch Blown Away—I remember loving it when I watched it in the theatre (released a couple of weeks after the more famous Speed)
Hi JamesLuo,
Thanks for reading! I’ve never seen “Blown Away” - I’ll check it out.
